PostHeaderIcon Happy Mother's Day

A MOTHER'S LOVE

I wanted you before you were born.
I fell in love with you the second I saw your face.
I knew then that I would die for you.

I wanted to hold you when you cried.
I loved you even more as I rocked you off to sleep.
I knew then that I would do anything for you.

I wanted to go to school with you.
I loved you when you brought me another drawing to put on my wall.
I knew then that I would always be proud of you.

I wanted to follow you on your first date.
I loved you when you told me about your first kiss.
I knew then I would do anything to protect you.

I wanted to tell you not to date that bum.
I loved you when you gave me my grandson.
I knew then that I had to let go of you.

I wanted to be there for you forever.
I loved you when you told me goodbye.
I knew then that I would always be with you
and God would now be your guide.

PostHeaderIcon What shall I complain about today? How about Self-Publishing?

Let's start with..........I am tired.

Odd way to start a blog, don't you think?

I have a complaint.  I am so tired of everyone telling me how unskilled I am.  I am tired of them telling me that I could not possibly be as good as they are.  I have been told that I should be ashamed of myself for thinking I could possibly be as good as WELL-KNOWN authors.  I have been told, "How dare you think that you could get published when there are well-known authors out there losing thier publishing contracts."  "The nerve, the audacity, to think you could compete with them."

I read several comments earlier today about how the only reason people self publish is because they don't have the patiences to go through the PROPER publishing channels.  What a crock?  I actually started the book, CONDOR 5: Where Thoughts Become Pleasure, 10 years ago.  I finished it and started sending out queries two years ago and to this day I am still sending queries even though it is on CreateSpace and Amazon for sale.

Then why the rant you may ask?  Because even though I am upset with the publishing industry at this moment I still feel that they have the added experience that I lack.

I have been told that I should be ashamed of myself for even considering self-publishing (by an agent that won't get fee's from my books).  I have been told that someone like me could never make it onto the NYT best sellers list.  I have been told that I should be ashamed of myself for thinking I could edit my book as well as a professional editor (who wanted to charge me $120).  I have been a Master Proofreader for The Gutenberg project for years but they didn't want to hear that either.  It's not the same thing they tell me.  It's not good enough they reply.

PostHeaderIcon My adventure in QUERY LAND and SUBMISSION WORLD

As you have probably noticed I don't talk much about myself but I feel it is time to properly introduce myself.  My name is Jovanna Francesco.  I live in a small town in Southwest Virginia. We have a population of around 4,000 people.

This blog is here to let you know about my wonderful adventure in QUERY LAND and SUBMISSION WORLD.

To start out my great adventure I wrote a book.  I created the creatures in the book.  I created a cover for that book myself.  I then created a website and blog to promote the book. You can find the link to my website on this page.

Everyone kept telling me, "You need an agent and publisher or your book will never sell."

So, when the book was completed I started sending out queries and submissions to agents and publishers.

PostHeaderIcon A Short Story (just because)

Once again she woke up in a cold sweat. Every time she had the dream it became harder and harder for her to get the images out of her head. Tara Goodman had been having the same dream every night for the past two weeks. It always started the same way. She found herself in a dark hallway in an apartment building that was unfamiliar to her. When she got to the end of the hall a door opened and a man with a hood on stepped out, grabbed her and pulled her into the apartment. He shut and locked the door, then turned his attention on her. “Who are you? What do you want? She asked.

He walked over to her grabbed her and threw her down on the ground. The man always replied the same way. “I am your salvation. I want to relieve you of your nightmares.” He straddled her body raised a ceremonial blade above his head, murmured an incantation, removed his hood, and plunged the knife deep into her chest. Then she would wake up. She never did see who it was even though he removed his hood. It was always a blank face.

PostHeaderIcon Excerpt from Chapter 18 (CONDOR 5)

Cameron was getting anxious. He started to pace back and forth. He looked at his watch, a minute later he looked again.

“What could possibly be taking so long?”

Valaria started down the stairs in a slow almost floating fashion with her Gloppora close on her heels.
Cameron heard a foot step behind him and swung around.

“Finally…” he started to say then froze.

His jaw dropped. He could have sworn he heard a thump when it hit the floor. He was awestruck. When the Gloppora saw his reaction she flushed. Her body heated up and the blood rushed to her face.

PostHeaderIcon CONDOR 5: Where Thoughts Become Pleasure

Cameron Alexander and a few of his friends were having a drink at the Mardi Gras Night Club in down town Atlanta. They were discussing his latest conquest. They all agreed that since she was one of the dancers at a club that specialized in adult male entertainment that she didn’t count.

Cameron was only half listening to their conversation. His thoughts seemed to be overly focused on his assistant. He had even pictured himself making love to her last night instead of the exotic and extremely limber dancer he was with. He couldn’t understand why he couldn’t get her out of his head.

He is one of the wealthiest bachelors in the universe. He made his millions by collecting treasures and artifacts across the universe. He could have any woman he wanted and he knew that. He considered himself God’s greatest gift to women and most women would agree with that. His deeply tanned muscular arms could sweep any woman off her feet with ease. He is savvy, debonair, and sophisticated. The kind of man every woman fantasizes about.

So what is wrong with him? Why couldn’t he get his assistant in the sack?
